About American Family Living
American Family Living (AFL) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1977 by Jene and Evie Wilson. American Family Living is a member of the Orange Chamber of Commerce. They have also been a member of ECFA (Evangelical Christian Financial Accountability) since 1978. Jene and Evie had a burden in their hearts to bring healing and hope to the needs of individuals and families.
Steve & Kathy Schinhofen are the Directors at American Family Living as of 2016.
They have both been very involved in the ministry for years and have a passion for marriage and families. They have been married 40 years now, with 3 grown children and 9 grandchildren!
American Family Living has a corporate board that oversees and approves all decisions.

Update about Jene & Evie Wilson:
Dear Friends,
This has a very hard time for Jene & Evie and all the Wilson family.
Jene and Evelyn Wilson, the founders of American Family Living, passed in November 2022. Jene went to be with Jesus on November 15th at 10:45pm, and within 34 hours, his sweet beloved Evie passed into glory to join him. They both died quietly and peacefully ending their 63 year love affair. Jene was 88 and Evie was 83.
The Wilson’s served in ministry together for all 63 years of marriage. They were best known for being very charismatic, Orange County counselors and pastors who took their evangelizing around the country via Christian Radio and conferences. They started their life together working as youth pastors. They continued working in several ministries: Youth For Christ, Melodyland, Teen Challenge, TBN PTL Club as Friday night youth night, on the talk radio show “Rapine” on KEZY. However, their true passion was their ministry of American Family Living (AFL) which they founded in 1977. They desired to help families prevent having to go through such challenging times by giving them a strong foundation built on God and His Word, but also be there for families struggling. AFL was started for “Restoring America one family at a time”. This ministry was known for its radio show “Spread A Little Love Around”, fashion shows at the Disneyland hotel, their couples retreats “Time For Two”, dating seminars, women’s and men’s bible studies, counseling services, women’s tea and multiple other programs. They also had produced a CD with the Ralph Carmichael Band, and Jene had written a book “How to know God’s Will”.
Jene met Evie in 1958, and married on September 6th, 1959. They are survived by their sons Brent and Burt. Brent’s wife Melody and his 2 children, and Burt’s wife Sallie and their 4 children.
Service was held January 21, 2023 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1855 N. Orange Olive Rd Orange, California.
The service started at 2:00pm.
